History
In 1987, Mr. Lin Jaio-Shong visited Tzu Chi headquarter in Hualien, and he was deeply touched. After returning to America, he contacted Sister Jing-Nien in California and became a member of the foundation. He introduced Tzu Chi to his family and friends and promoted the foundation throughout the Seattle area.
In 1993, the Tzu Chi Seattle office was formally established. On July 25 to August 2 of that year, members went to the Tzu Chi Los Angles Chapter to learn more about Tzu Chi. When they first started the branch, there was not enough manpower, so Mr. Lin and his wife held several positions at the same time. They toiled tirelessly and uncomplainingly, based on their honest and disciplined dispostion, to diligently carry out the Tzu Chi's four missions: Charity, Medicine, Education, and Culture.
